The Non-Governmental Organisations Regulatory Authority (NGORA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, and the Council for Non-Governmental Organisations in Malawi (CONGOMA), wish to inform the public that there will be a commemoration of an NGO Day on 14th December 2023 at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe from 8am.

The Day, the first of its kind in the country, will be commemorated under the theme: “A Strong and Vibrant NGO Sector Towards Accelerated Implementation for SDGs and Malawi 2063”.

The overall objective of the Day is to strengthen partnerships between Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and the Malawi Government towards accelerated implementation of the Malawi 2063 Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, the NGO Day is aimed at providing NGOs and stakeholder institutions a platform to showcase their interventions and services while at the same time capturing opportunities for networking and collaboration among themselves and with the Malawi Government. Exhibitions, speeches and performances are some of the activities that will mark the NGO Day.

The State President, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera will preside over the Day and officially launch the 2023 NGO Sector Report. In the evening, the President will host NGOs and Stakeholders to a dinner at Kamuzu Palace, and present Awards to best performing NGOs as a symbol of appreciation for the contributions NGOs are making towards the implementation Malawi 2063 development agenda.

NGORA is, therefore, inviting NGOs and stakeholder institutions to participate in the NGO Day through the provision of event sponsorship and mounting of pavilions for exhibitions. The General Public is also invited to join the State President in touring and appreciating the exhibitions, showcasing the contributions of NGOs and stakeholder institutions towards the national development agenda.
