The CEO for NGORA Edward Chileka Banda has challenged district councils to invest in efforts towards the strengthening of coordination and monitoring of NGO work so that communities benefit from the interventions.
Chileka-Banda said this during a Quarterly Council Coordination working session in the southern region. He called upon stakeholders to help enforce NGO laws and policies which are aimed at protecting citizens and ensure that public resources mobilised through NGO work benefit the public.
He added that it is time to show results of the huge investments made by government and donors as reflected in the national budgets and development aid.
“As technocrats, let’s help change the narrative that Malawi is the poorest nation amidst available resources the country is generating,” he said.
The CEO has since called upon councils and NGOs to effectively collaborate in pursuit of improved service delivery. He reminded councils to take ownership of the MOU arrangement to facilitate progressive development cooperation.
